Derby County have been accredited with a bid for Nottingham Forest’s Michail Antonio.

According to a Friday night report in the Mirror, Derby County have tabled a £5 million for highly-rated Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio.

The Championship speedster was one of the league’s most outstanding players last season, netting 14 goals and adding a further 14 assists as Forest languished in mid-table.

Antonio cost Dougie Freedman’s side less than £2 million 12 months ago, yet his superb season has seen his stick rise incredibly and attract Premier League interest, as per the report in the Mirror.

Forest would ideally like to hold on to the player for the season, yet their FFP breach poses them a problem in terms of potential squad additions and future investment.

Derby, on the other hand, have made a splash this summer with seven new player joining the club alongside the appointment of former Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement as manager.

The Rams are widely regarded as joint favourites for the Championship title with Middlesbrough and owner Mel Morris isn’t afraid to make funds available to get the team over the line.

Tom Ince has already arrived at the iPro Stadium for a club record fee, yet that looks in danger of being broken ahead of the transfer window deadline if reports in the Mirror are to be believed.

There is certainly no love lost between the East Midlands rivals and Antonio trading the City Ground for Derby would be huge, prompting plenty of talk on Twitter on the situation from both sets of fans.
