Confirmed: Newcastle v Southampton line-ups

Newcastle United and Southampton will face each other at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this afternoon…

Newcastle United will be looking to kick off their 2015-16 Premier League campaign with a home win this afternoon.

The Magpies will take on Southampton at St. James’ Park in their opening game of the new season.

Last season, Newcastle struggled for survival in the Premier League and were in danger of going down to the Championship until the final day of the campaign.

This time around under new head coach Steve McClaren, the Magpies will be aiming for a top-10 finish in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Southampton will be determined to have yet another successful season under manager Ronald Koeman.

The Saints are on the verge of qualifying for the group stage of the Europa League this term, and they will be keen on starting the 2015-16 Premier League campaign on a positive note.

Newcastle have failed to score in their opening game in four of their five seasons since returning to the top flight of English football.

This is how Newcastle and Southampton will line up at St. James' Park:

Newcastle United XI:

Southampton XI: Stekelenburg, Cedric, Fonte (c), Yoshida, Targett, Wanyama, S. Davis, Tadic, Mane, Rodriguez, Pelle

Subs: Gazzaniga (GK), Long, Martina, Ward-Prowse, Reed, Juanmi, Caulker
