The Celtic manager had very positive words to say regarding one of his players this weekend.

Celtic continued their impressive start to the new season with a 2-0 win against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premiership this weekend and now their manager Ronny Deila has been speaking in comments published on the club’s official Twitter account.

Tom Rogic opened the scoring in what was his first competitive start for almost two years following an injury nightmare and Kris Commons added a second 17 minutes into the second half.

Rogic is undoubtedly talented but he has been blighted by injury problems that have meant the Australian has only made 17 appearances for the Bhoys since arriving from Central Coast Mariners back in January 2013.

Rogic had to make do with appearances for Celtic’s under-20s in the final few weeks of last season but now he is clearly a part of their first-team plans.

Speaking after the 2-0 victory, Deila said, “He was very good in the first 40 minutes. You can see what kind of talent he is.

“His touch of the ball, awareness, scanning, understanding; there are a lot of things he can give to the team. I saw he was injured but when we got him back I saw he had something special.”

Deila went on to say that he told Rogic he would never leave Celtic until he had the chance to prove himself and after this weekend’s performance he is clearly starting to do just that.
