Taking a closer look at the most recent performance of Tottenham Hotspur's Algerian international.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb could not bring his best form to Old Trafford as his side lost 1-0 to Manchester United this weekend.
The Algerian international is one of Tottenham’s most exciting young prospects, but he simply failed to deliver in the Premier League curtain-raiser and he was replaced in the 53rd minute by fellow midfielder Ryan Mason.
It would be wrong to lay the blame for Tottenham’s defeat solely at the feet of Bentaleb and foolish to suggest that one bad performance should prompt a reassessment of the player’s ability. But the 20-year-old will be disappointed not to have played better, especially when we know what he is capable of.

Playing alongside makeshift midfielder Eric Dier, Bentaleb failed to have much impact in the game, having a passing accuracy of just 78 per cent and failing to win a single tackle all afternoon.
The Tottenham player also failed to play any key passes or have an attempt on goal, while he managed just two duels and one interception during his time on the pitch.
He was dispossessed twice and lost possession a further 11 times and it was no surprise to see him depart early.
He will have much better games than this, but both him and the Tottenham faithful will be hoping he does not have any that are worse.
