The Tottenham Hotspur summer signing had a good day at the office at Old Trafford.
But, in front of the intimidating Manchester United crowd, the summer signing did just what fans would have expected him to after seeing him impress for Southampton so often last term.
Alderweireld was solid. The £11.5 million signing, fee as reported by the Daily Mail, looked comfortable among his Tottenham team-mates and ended up coming top of the pile in two key statistical areas.

As Opta stats show, no Tottenham player completed more passes than the defender, who also won the joint-highest amount of interceptions alongside Kyle Walker.
Credit to Walker here, for the man who scored the decisive own goal also won the highest number of tackles of any Spurs player.
Alderweireld's contribution, though, proves he is perfect for the Mauricio Pochettino system as his high rate of interceptions blends well with Tottenham's high-pressing game. And his high rate of completed passes also slots him right in when it comes to the north London side playing out from the back.
An encouraging performance from the 26-year-old, then, while more of the same will be welcome at the Lane.
