John Hartson poses an interesting question about Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Aston Villa last month.

John Hartson has expressed on BBC Sport a doubt he has over Christian Benteke and Liverpool.

Belgium international striker Benteke joined the Merseyside outfit from Premier League rivals Aston Villa last month.

The 24-year-old will lead the line for the Reds and will be hugely important in their challenge to finish in the top four this season.

Although former Arsenal and West Ham United striker Hartson believes that Benteke is a good signing for Brendan Rodgers’s side, he has highlighted a problem that he could pose.

“Christian Benteke is a good signing who has got everything you need as a striker but the question for me is can Liverpool give him the service he needs in the box because they will have to change the way they play?” the 40-year-old told BBC Sport.

Good move for Christian Benteke?

There will be some concerns whether the former Genk star will fit in Liverpool’s style, but one suspects that manager Rodgers has spoken to him already about that.

Liverpool’s main objective this season is to finish in the top four of the Premier League, and Benteke will play a key role in that.

Last season, the Belgian scored 13 goals and created 33 chances in 29 Premier League games, and had a pass accuracy of 67% and a shot accuracy of 45%.
