The Aston Villa faithful are looking forward to seeing the forward in action once he's had more game time.
Saturday was a good day for Aston Villa. Naturally, considering Tim Sherwood's men started their Premier League campaign with an away win.
Rudy Gestede's winner gave Villa all three points at Bournemouth, while the Midlands side were also able to keep a clean sheet.
But the victory was one thing. Seeing so many new signings blend together well was even more encouraging for Sherwood's side. Indeed, goalscorer Gestede's header summed up exactly what he will bring to Aston Villa, while Jordan Amavi and Micah Richards were also the subject of heavy praise. Other Villa signings, too, did well and kept their supporters happy.
There was one exception, though, in 23-year-old forward Jordan Ayew. The young Ghanaian wasn't awful by any stretch but many fans were disappointed on Twitter.
Of course, they all understood that Ayew needs more game time to get used to things at Villa Park. But the need for improvement has already been recognised, as opposed to his fellow Premier League debutants who mostly shone. Here's what Aston Villa fans made of their side's Bournemouth win on Twitter:
Ayew was just a bit clumsy in position. The period he was on the pitch, Villa were not attacking with conviction. He just needs games #avfc— Ben Nall (@BenNall79) August 8, 2015
Think Gueye looked brilliant today along with Richards, Ayew was annonimous most of the game but needs time, Gestede looks great #avfc— Chris Bedworth (@AVFCBedders) August 8, 2015
Ayew didn't have a bad game but today showed he cannot play with Gabby who simply has no future in our side. #avfc— TheTechniqueSMC (@TheTechniqueSMC) August 8, 2015
New boys... Ayew found it hard but Amavi and Gueye were very good. Veretout showed flashes of good play. Rudy and Micah look beasts! #avfc— Howard Hodgson (@HodgsonHoward) August 8, 2015
Brilliant win for villa, 2nd half was quality, Rudi Rudi Rudi Rudiiiiiiiii! Not sure about ayew, makes gabby luk like Messi #avfc— Richard (@richyukdpd) August 8, 2015
