Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman confident of completing Michael Frey signing

The Lille striker is reportedly set to head to the City Ground this week.

This week has seen Nottingham Forest linked with a transfer coup to bring in Swiss under-21 international Michael Frey from Lille on loan.

The talented attacker was a hotly tipped signing from Young Boys last summer for Lille and he was expected to shine as a replacement for Salomon Kalou.

Now Dougie Freedman has been speaking about his pursuit of the player.

Whilst remaining relatively coy on the move, he insisted that he is confident of signing the player.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “The boy Frey, we have had a little talk with him last week. You know we will try to move that along as fast as we can.

“But it is difficult with the restrictions we have got. We will try our very best.

“The administration side needs to be right before we agree anything.

“I am confident. We have been working very hard to talk to the boy and to let him know the plan. He is young and he is hungry and full of desire to do well after a huge move to Lille and hopefully we can get that one across the line, we will see next week.”

Forest are certainly in need of another striker. Britt Assombalonga is out of action until the New Year and Matty Fryatt is also sidelined.

That leaves just Dexter Blackstock and Tyler Walker to lead the line, and Frey would be a quality addition.

He is full of talent but has struggled in France since making the move from his homeland. He has picked up regular injury problems since arriving in Ligue 1, which have resulted in him score just the six goals in 27 games for the club.

If he can, however, discover his best form at the City Ground, he could be a Championship star for Forest.
