Confirmed: Sandro Wagner, linked with five Championship clubs including Hull City and Blackburn, joins SV Darmstadt

The striker has left Hertha Berlin for a new challenge - but remains in Germany.

Several Championship clubs have recently been linked with a move for German striker Sandro Wagner.

At first it was reported that Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest were all keen on the Hertha Berlin striker, as reported by Sport Bild.

Sheffield Wednesday were then also linked with the player. T-Online reported that Wednesday were also keen on the striker.

Then the obligatory Leeds United interest came. Just a week ago it was reported by Tutto Mercato Web that Leeds were hoping to take him to Elland Road this summer.

Hull, Blackburn, Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds may very well have been interested, but none of the five English clubs said to be keen have got their man.

It has now been confirmed that Wagner has left Hertha Berlin for recently promoted German side SV Darmstadt.

Wagner is a big centre-forward who came through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich and scored four goals in eight games for the German under-21 side.

But since leaving Duisburg in 2010 the goals have dried up and he has not been in his best form.

Darmstadt will be hoping Wagner makes Hull, Blackburn, Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds very jealous this season.
