Here is how Leicester City and Sunderland will line up for this afternoon’s match:
Leicester City starting XI: Schmeichel, De Laet, Huth, Morgan Schlupp, Albrighton, Drinkwater, King, Mahrez, Okazaki, Vardy
Leicester City subs: Schwarzer, Hammond, Kante, Kramaric, Ulloah, Fuchs, Benalouane
Sunderland starting XI: Pantilimon, Jones, van Aanholt, Kaboul, Coates, Cattermole, Rodwell, Johnson, Larsson, Lens, Defoe
Sunderland subs: Mannone, O'Shea, Matthews, Bridcutt, Giaccherini, Graham, Fletcher
Leicester City welcome Sunderland to the King Power Stadium this afternoon for both clubs’ first Premier League match of the new campaign.
Leicester have a new man in charge in the form of Claudio Ranieri and it will be interesting to see how the Italian does having stepped into the shoes of former boss Nigel Pearson over the summer.
Pearson guided the Foxes away from relegation in brilliant and unexpected fashion in the final few months of last season, while Sunderland also avoided the drop under Dick Advocaat.
Both sides will be hoping for less stressful campaigns this time round but only one side can come out victorious this afternoon as they bid for the best possible start.
Both games between these two sides last season ended 0-0 so fans may not be expecting much in terms of entertainment, but the opening day always throws up a surprise or two and a new year brings with it new hopes.
