The new summer signing has stated that he is ready to score lots of goals and the level of expectation will not faze him.
The Belgium international is expected to fill the void left by Raheem Sterling, who joined Manchester City earlier in the summer, and will help to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ attacking options.
Despite the pressure being on the Congo-born attacker to get the goals to fire the Merseysiders back into the top four, the new man has stated that he is confident of being a success with his new club.
"I believe I can produce the goals, but I am not alone here,” he told the Liverpool official website.
“That is the good thing. I have players behind me and around me.
"I knew if I joined a big club I would have some pressure, so I am ready for this challenge. I will work hard and not worry about things. I think the pressure will bring the best out of me.”
Benteke showed exactly what he can do with a spectacular goal against Swindon in pre-season, with the Belgium admitting that it was a good start to his time at Liverpool.
"It is nice to start with a goal, especially for a striker with a confidence and I hope I can do the same in the league. I was happy with the contact," he added.
"I don’t like to speak about what I am going to do, I like to speak on the pitch. I am going to do the best for the team and for myself.”
Benteke is expected to lead the line for Rodgers’ men against Stoke this weekend at the Britannia Stadium, despite reportedly not being 100 per cent match fit.
The Reds will be keen to make amends for their 6-1 humbling at the hands of the Potters on the last day of the 2014-15 campaign.
