The Mexico international striker is on the books of Atletico Madrid at the moment, but it seems that the 24-year-old is set to join the Hammers imminently.
BILIC: "Jimenez is close. We hope to get it done today or tomorrow but he would not be ready for Sunday's game. That would be it then"— West Ham United FC (@whufc_official) August 7, 2015
Jimenez does not seem to feature in the plans of Atletico coach Diego Simeone for the 2015-16 campaign, having struggled to play well last season.
During the 2014-15 campaign, the Mexican scored one goal and created eight chances in 21 La Liga appearances for Atletico.
Jimenez had a pass accuracy of 70% and a shot accuracy of 63%, and won 20 headers, three dribbles and 11 tackles.
The jury is out on whether the 24-year-old former Club America striker will be a success at West Ham, but perhaps the London outfit did not have a choice other than to sign him.
It will be interesting to see how Jimenez adapts to the Premier League, having not had a proper pre-season with West Ham.
