Raul Jimenez looks set to join West Ham United from Atletico Madrid.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been quoted as saying by the club’s official Twitter page that they are close to the signing of Raul Jimenez.

The Mexico international striker is on the books of Atletico Madrid at the moment, but it seems that the 24-year-old is set to join the Hammers imminently.

Jimenez does not seem to feature in the plans of Atletico coach Diego Simeone for the 2015-16 campaign, having struggled to play well last season.

During the 2014-15 campaign, the Mexican scored one goal and created eight chances in 21 La Liga appearances for Atletico.

Jimenez had a pass accuracy of 70% and a shot accuracy of 63%, and won 20 headers, three dribbles and 11 tackles.

The jury is out on whether the 24-year-old former Club America striker will be a success at West Ham, but perhaps the London outfit did not have a choice other than to sign him.

It will be interesting to see how Jimenez adapts to the Premier League, having not had a proper pre-season with West Ham.
