Theo Walcott confident of reaching Arsenal ‘100 club’

The forward is being given his chance in a central role this season, and is eager to impress.

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has told the club’s official website that he confident of scoring the goals to reach the club’s ‘100 club'.

The striker is currently 24 efforts short of reaching that milestone, meaning he will need to have a stellar campaign in 2015/16 to reach his goal come the season’s close.

Teammate Aaron Ramsey has recently backed Walcott to reach the tally, and the player himself admits it is definitely a target, while saying it is nice to have somebody else believe he can do it.

“That’s my target, definitely,” he told

“It’s nice having somebody who believes in me like that and I believe in it as well. It’s achievable, definitely. I have to look after myself, train well, play well and we’ll see where it takes me. But I’m very confident.”

The pressure is definitely on Walcott to produce the goals this season, with it likely that he will have a big part to play in any potential Premier League title challenge.

Many have speculated that the Gunners need a top class centre forward to complete their squad and make them title contenders, but Arsene Wenger seems to be putting his faith in Walcott as a centre forward to produce the goods.

There is no denying that he has the ability, with his pace giving Arsenal that extra dimension in their play and a constant worry for defenders. Whether his finishing is up to the scratch, is something that is yet to be answered.
