West Brom want Rondon, along with Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham.
The Venezuelan striker, 25, looks to have agreed terms with the Midlands club, and he has travelled to the Hawthorns to finalise terms ahead of a move to the Baggies.
Rondon is heading away from Zenit due to issues with their playing squad, as foreign player registration means he cannot be selected for action by Andre Villas-Boas. His availability has opened the door to a move, and a number of clubs were linked with Rondon earlier this week.
As reported by VTV of Venezuela, the striker was wanted by West Ham, Newcastle and Aston Villa yesterday, but the Baggies look to have won the race for him.
Is Rondon suited to West Brom?
Rondon does look a perfect signing for the Baggies, with the striker seemingly well suited to Tony Pulis’ style of football. He has a natural eye for goal, a reliable and consistent finishing prowess, and has the physical traits needed to lead the line in a direct system.
He is also still young enough to keep developing, and possesses all the talent needed to be a top level striker.
With an exit from Zenit guaranteed, West Brom may be able to wrap up a budget deal for Rondon, and it looks as if he could be a great choice to provide competition to Saido Berahino and Rickie Lambert in the attacking zones.
