The Ligue 1 talent has struggled in France but remains a great signing.
Nottingham Forest get their Championship campaign underway this evening with a fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Arena.
Forest are of course hopeful of a promotion tilt this season, but will struggle to do so with their current transfer situation.
The club have struggled to bring in players because of a Transfer Embargo – with just loanees and free agents arriving at the City Ground.
One position that needs strengthening is up front, and it looks like they are about to complete such a move.
It is reported by The Sun today that Forest are on the verge of completing a deal for Lille striker Michael Frey for the season.
Frey spoke to the club yesterday and a deal is expected to go through in the coming days.
The 21-year-old came to the fore at BSC Young Boys and last summer headed to Ligue 1 side Lille. In April last year it was reported by The Mirror that Liverpool were keen on the player – so he is certainly talented.
Unfortunately his first season with Lille was not a success. He struggled with injury and form, playing 27 times and scoring six goals.
Forest will hope the deal goes through and that Frey gets back to his best in Nottingham.
