Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour told talkSPORT that he’s really looking forward to watching Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain play over the next season.
The former Gunner has suggested that the midfielder has a big role to play for Arsene Wenger in a potentially exciting Arsenal line-up, which will be difficult for any team to deal with when they’re playing at the top of their game.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Oxlade-Chamberlain, I think he could get a really good run this year for Arsenal. If he can stay fit then he could really stake a claim to playing every week. Imagine him on one side, Sanchez on one side and Ozil in the middle and that’s a good attacking three,” he told talkSPORT.
What are the Ox’s chances of starting?
In short, very good.
He looks likely to start the season as the club’s main right sided winger, which could push Theo Walcott onto the bench, unless Arsene Wenger wants to use him up front.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has the pace and skill on the ball to be effective down either side of the team with the intelligence of being able to sense when he needs to move into the centre to exploit space.
He’s also looking extremely fit at the moment and if he can stay in good shape and avoid injury, he’s got a great chance to enjoy a prolonged run of games.
It will be interesting to see who Wenger starts the season with on both sides and through the middle but the Ox is definitely someone who can turn games in a second for the Gunners and someone who could really excel this season.
