Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told The Daily Mail that Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil needs to raise his game.
The former Reds defender believes that he has yet to see the Germany international at his best.
“His form improved towards the end of last season but I still think back to the player who was outstanding at the World Cup in 2010 and I am looking for him to repeat that form.”
As Carragher says, the Ozil who starred for Germany at the 2010 World Cup and who provided Cristiano Ronaldo will so many assists at Real Madrid has been missing from the Premier League.
The 26-year-old started his Premier League career well after joining the Gunners in the summer of 2013, but his form dipped in the second half of the 2013-14 campaign.
The former Werder Bremen star struggled with injuries for a large chunk of last season, but following his return he did play well for Arsenal.
The German star scored four goals and created 70 chances in 22 Premier League appearances during the 2014-15 campaign.
Ozil had a pass accuracy of 88% and a shot accuracy of 54%, and won five headers, 52 dribbles and 21 tackles.
