The dust has settled on Gestede becoming part of the Villa squad for the new season and he’s confident that he can have an instant impact with the team, as they look to cope without the presence and quality of Christian Benteke.
“I know I will get chances here because I have some top talent around me. As a striker, it’s great to know you’re going to get at least two chances a game,” he told AVTV.
“Jordan Ayew’s a very good player. In France, he was one of the best strikers. He had a very good season there last year so I’m very excited to start with him.”
Support is important
It’s very important that Gestede receives the right level of support as he gets stuck into his career.
He does have experience of English football having played for Blackburn Rovers but it’s a big step up to the Premier League for any individual and if he doesn’t start the season well, then he needs to be backed.
The manager has to show faith in him by giving him chances to impress and the crowd also have a responsibility to get behind him, helping him to stay motivated.
He should get service
He can be sure that he will get a decent level of service from the Aston midfield, because there is real pace and athleticism in wide areas.
Hopefully he can show the intelligence in attack to get into good positions, which makes it easier for the wide men and the central players to create chances.
