Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports that he feels all eyes are currently on Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers has been backed in a big way with plenty of players coming into the football club, which has enabled him to improve his squad options in all areas.
“It is vital for everyone, but I think there will be a lot of eyes on Liverpool this season, because there have been a lot of new players coming in, there have been changes to the coaching staff and people know Liverpool have a tough start,” he told Sky Sports.
“We know that Liverpool did not have a great season last season and all eyes will be on Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool, so it is vital that they get off to a good start because the fixtures they have got are very difficult.”
A real opportunity
While Rodgers is under real pressure as Carragher suggests, it’s also a very good opportunity for him to show how good and how effective he is at Liverpool.
The club have two choices in terms of approaching their well-documented difficult opening fixtures; they can either go in a bit nervous and potentially suffer or they can tackle the challenge head-on.
A couple of good early wins this season will give the team momentum and create some positive feeling and then the momentum relating to the club and the boss starts to change.
Rodgers is still the same manager he was two years ago when the club nearly won the Premier League and hopefully his personnel can produce for him.
