Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Kieran Trippier performance against AC Milan

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier impressed during the game against AC Milan.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season schedule is now over, with the club ending on a high following a 2-0 win against AC Milan in the Audi Cup.

Focus now turns to the start of the Premier League and a massive game against Manchester United, with Spurs under a bit of pressure to try and get off to a good start in their race for a position in the top four.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will have one or two questions over who starts in key areas and one player who has just made his team selection for this weekend more difficult is right-back Kieran Trippier.

Trippier was superb in the game against Milan last night and is someone who will be fighting hard to force his way into the team.

Right-back is a very congested area of the squad, with Kyle Walker just ahead of Trippier in the pecking order while American DeAndre Yedlin is arguably behind.

It will be interesting to see if a good performance in an end of pre-season friendly game is enough for Trippier to force his way into the team.

The intensity this weekend against Manchester United will be far greater than anything the defender has experienced this summer, with United likely to forensically examine both full-back positions as they probe for a way through the opposition’s defence.

If Trippier doesn’t start and he’s forced to sit back waiting for a chance, all he can do is be patient and then take his chances when they do arrive.

It makes sense for Pochettino to start the season with someone like Walker who does have more experience of top flight football in England, but there is a real chance that Trippier will be given opportunities to impress.

Here’s what Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter had to say about Trippier’s performance against AC Milan.
