Tom Carroll targeting more Tottenham goals after AC Milan strike

Tom Carroll low quality

The midfielder was pleased with his and the side's performance in the Audi Cup clash.

Tottenham youngster Tom Carroll says he is targeting more goals from midfield after his strike against AC Milan, via the club's official website.

The midfielder played as part of a midfield three against the Italian side and often found himself him in more attacking positions throughout the game during the 2-0 win.

And he later found himself on the end of a Kieran Trippier pass in front of goal, with a measured finish finding its way past keeper Christian Abbiati.

The young midfielder is not a regular scorer though, with just two senior goals to his name so far, and says he is targeting more in future.

“I don’t know if one goal classes me as a goal scoring midfielder but it’s definitely something I need to add to my game,” he told tottenhamhotspur.com.

“I like having the ball at my feet and in that role, you have to look to get forward and try to create and score goals.”

Good performance with lots of positives

Reflecting on the game, Carroll says he was happy with the goal and the performance of the side overall.

It was a tough test for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, especially given that they only played Real Madrid recently as well, with them being defeated on that occasion.

Their participation in the Audi Cup has been heavily criticised and questioned given it’s close proximity to the start of the Premier League campaign, but the midfielder believes that they can take a lot of positives into the season.

“I’m happy with the goal and overall, I thought we played really well and deserved the win,” he added.

“It was a great performance against top opposition, so a good win and a lot of positives to take into the season.”
