Sunderland announced on their official Twitter account the signing of Yann M’Vila.
The French international has signed for the club on a season-long loan from Rubin Kazan, looking to add strength and steel to the Black Cats midfield.
M’Vila, 25, started his career with Rennes in France, growing to become one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1. He moved to Rubin Kazan last summer though, and his career has somewhat stalled.
A loan spell with Inter did not improve things, and Sunderland will be hoping that he shows the same kind of form he did with Rennes whilst turning out at the Stadium of Light.
Signing him on loan looks to be a wise move for the Wearside club, as they are not tied down to the player should he struggle in England. There are no indications as to whether they have the option to purchase him outright at the end of the deal, but it is likely that M’Vila would be signed permanent if he is a success.
M’Vila is available for selection this weekend, and Dick Advocaat could choose to hand the Frenchman his debut against Leicester City.
When the deal was completed, Sunderland fans took to Twitter to express their pleasure with the signing - if M’Vila can discover his best form with the Black Cats.

M'Vila's finally been announced, then, good stuff. A couple more before the end of the window and we'll have a decent little squad #SAFC— Michael Lavelle (@RubixSAFC) August 6, 2015
If Yann M'Vila becomes the player he was destined to be 4 years ago then Sunderland have got one hell of a player. Big if.— Jon Startin (@Jon_Startin) August 6, 2015
