Report: Tottenham have second Clinton N’Jie bid rejected but deal thought to be close

The flying winger is apparently a main target as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add to his attacking options.

Spurs could soon make their first attacking signing of the summer, with L’Equipe reporting that the club is close to reaching a compromise with Lyon for Clinton N'Jie.

This comes despite the report claiming Spurs have had their second bid for the 21-year old rejected.

Lyon are believed to have requested Federico Fazio’s inclusion in a deal but Spurs are thought to have rejected this proposal, with the Argentine firmly in Pochettino’s plans.

Spurs had an opening bid of £7 million rejected, as per Get France Football, and their latest offer is believed to be worth around £8.4 million with a further £2 million in add-ons.

Lyon want a straight up cash deal of around £10.5 million however, and the clubs should soon reach a compromise for the pacey winger.

Tottenham’s lack of attacking options was clear to see in their final pre-season game against Milan yesterday, where the rested Harry Kane had to be replaced by Nacer Chadli in an unfamiliar striking role.

The return from injury of Alex Pritchard will boost the Spurs attack but more is needed and Clinton N’Jie is certainly one player that fits the bill.
