Leeds are looking to trim their squad before the transfer window closes, and one player who could be on his way out is Nicky Ajose - as per the Coventry Telegraph.
The striker, who only joined the club last summer, has not enjoyed the greatest of times at Elland Road.
He was farmed out on loan to Crewe last season, and although Uwe Rosler admitted that he would be given chances in pre-season this year, he was not taken on the Whites tour of Austria.
It is expected that he will be allowed to leave - especially considering the attacking signings Leeds have made this summer - and the report states that Gillingham want to take him off the Whites’ books.
He netted eight goals in 27 games in League One last term, and Gillingham believe he can add a further attacking threat to their side.
There is no indication as to whether the Gills want a permanent deal or a loan for Ajose, but it seems as if Leeds would rather sell the forward, as Sky Sports reported last week that a loan offer from Swindon Town had been rejected by the club.
He would be an impressive capture for the League One side, and at the age of 23 still has plenty of years ahead of him to keep developing, and it remains to be seen whether the Gills formalise their interest into a concrete offer in the coming weeks.
