The talented VfB Stuttgart attacker wants to stay at his current club.
German talent Timo Werner is reportedly one of the names on the Tottenham Hotspur wishlist this summer. The Daily Mail reported at the start of the month that they are after the Germany under-19 international.
However, Werner is said to be not keen on the move.
It is reported by Stuttgarter Zeitung that Werner does not believe a move abroad at this age would be beneficial to his career. Instead he is willing to battle Daniel Ginczek and Martin Harnik for the striking roles along with Filip Kostic, Vedad Ibisevic and Mohammed Abdellaoue.
The 19-year-old attacker has shone for the German youth teams over the years and last term he featured for Stuttgart 32 times last season, but only netted three goals. Despite those figures he scores for fun at youth level and is considered one of Germany’s hottest young prospects.
Tottenham are desperate for some more attacking options this season to fit in with Mauricio Pochettino’s high tempo strategy.
Werner has the work-rate and certainly has the pace to fit into such a system however he has reportedly made it clear that he does not want a Tottenham move just yet.
