Report: Blackburn Rovers set to sign free agent Andrey Galabinov as Rudy Gestede replacement

The Bulgarian international was released by Livorno this summer.

Blackburn Rovers are looking to exploit the free agent market once again this summer, in order to bring in a potential replacement for Rudy Gestede.

The Benin striker joined Aston Villa last week, meaning the club have lost a big aerial and physical presence in the Blackburn attacking department.

The man they have been linked with signing would certainly help matters.

The Sun are reporting that Andrey Galabinov is in the crosshairs for Blackburn this week.

The tall and powerful striker is certainly similar in style to Gestede and the big bonus for Blackburn is that he is available for nothing.

The club are currently under a transfer embargo, restricting their movements in the market this summer.

Galabinov is a Bulgarian international, with six caps and two goals for his country. He has played his entire professional career in Italy and has impressed on loan spells at Gubbio and Avellino in recent times. However, he was released by Livorno this summer which has left him there for the taking for any interested parties, which seemingly includes Blackburn.

Blackburn have currently brought in Sacha Petshi, Bengali-Fode Koita and Danny Guthrie this summer – all on free transfers.
