The 18-year-old Newcastle forward trained with the senior side ahead of this weekend's Premier League opener.

If you take all the latest talk you'll hear seriously, Newcastle United are all set with their current squad.

Indeed, Steve McClaren appears happy with those already at his disposal, including Newcastle's summer signings, while he has chosen to keep Fabricio Coloccini instead of offloading the Argentine and seeking a replacement.

Fans may have to get used to the faces they'll be seeing in training this week, then, as well as those who'll be in action against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

An interesting face to note during first-team training ahead of Newcastle's Premier League opener v the Saints, though, was that of 18-year-old striker Callum Roberts.

Indeed, the teenage forward (above) was in practice with the Magpies, while Aleksandar Mitrovic was present but remains a fitness doubt going into the weekend.

Coloccini was also on show after extending his Newcastle contract, while there were those such as Moussa Sissoko, Papiss Cisse, Paul Dummett, Mike Williamson, Rolando Aarons and more in front of the cameras on Thursday afternoon.

Here's a selection of the best training photos from Newcastle's session ahead of Sunday's Premier League game with Southampton:
