Paul Merson predicts a Manchester United win against Tottenham.
A new season, and Paul Merson is gazing into his crystal ball once again - and he is predictably predicting another defeat for Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Arsenal midfielder is far from convinced about either side, laying out his concerns for each team.
Discussing Manchester United, he is worried about their new signings fitting into place, stating: "I have concerns whether their new signings will have had time to gel before the start of the season.
"You never know, Bastian Schweinsteiger may struggle to make the transition to the Premier League – after all it is a lot different to having 85 percent possession like Bayern Munich have been known to have in the Bundesliga."
He is though even less enthused by Tottenham, fearing a defeat for the North London side.
He said: "I watched them against the MLS All-Stars and they started poorly and were 2-0 down in no time. If they do that at Old Trafford they’re going to be in trouble."
Merson did add that he foresees a tight game, with Manchester United winning 1-0.
That would be better than Spurs did last season, easily beaten 3-0 at Old Trafford, a match in which no Spurs player did themselves any favours.
Even a narrow loss would be no consolation to Tottenham, who will be keen to pick up at least a point at a stadium where they have had an improved record over the past few years.
