Parlour explains what he's noticed about Bilic at West Ham

Former Gunner Ray Parlour feels he can see Slaven Bilic looking to develop and improve his philosophy already at West Ham United.

Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour told talkSPORT that he feels West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic is really starting to change the philosophy at the club.

Bilic has endured an interesting start to his life as Hammers boss, with the club already under pressure with regards to the Europa League, where they face a tense game against Astra later today.

Parlour feels it’s a big season for the Hammers because of where they are heading after this season, which makes it important for Bilic to get his message across to the players as quickly as possible.

“I think it’s a big season for West Ham ahead of their move. You can see that Bilic has come in and he’s really trying to change that philosophy at the minute,” he told talkSPORT.

A common sense approach is best

While the Europa League is an exciting platform for the club, it’s common sense for Bilic to focus more towards the Premier League.

It’s never been more important for any team to stay in the top flight of English football due to the cash created by the new TV rights deal and that needs to be the main priority for Bilic moving forward.

If that means fielding a younger team in the Europa League, which struggles but the club finish in the top half of the table, it may be something that the majority of fans are willing to accept.

Bilic’s philosophy

In terms of the philosophy that Bilic is creating at the club, it’s not going to be difficult for him to get the team playing a better brand of football than in the last few months of the last campaign under Sam Allardyce.

He’s also a boss who will safeguard the values of the club, improving the relationship between the players and the fans.
