Alex Cairns was clearly a popular member of the dressing room at former club Leeds United, with his ex-team-mates flocking to social media to wish him all the best after he announced that he is now joining Chesterfield.
Indeed, Leeds have added Charlie Horton and Ross Turnbull to their goalkeeping department this summer, with Cairns being released ahead of the new season.
But the 22-year-old has now agreed a move to Chesterfield, taking to Twitter to announce his pride at doing so on Thursday afternoon.
Intriguingly, though, it was Billy Sharp who sent him the most poignant message.
Indeed, Sharp has also recently left Leeds for a League One club and the 29-year-old fired a cheeky warning to Cairns that he is looking forward to 'sticking a few past' the goalkeeper this season.
@AlexCairns30 look forward to sticking a few past u pal congrats mate— billy sharp (@billysharp10) August 6, 2015
Leeds kick off their Championship campaign against Burnley at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, while Sheffield United travel to Gillingham in League One and Chesterfield host Barnsley.
