Ian Holloway predicts former side Millwall's opening result, discusses Steve Morison impact

Ian Holloway feels Shrewsbury will beat Millwall on the opening day, but backs Steve Morison to find the net in his first game since signing from Leeds.

Ian Holloway has told SkySports he predicts Millwall will lose on the opening day of the season.

He was fired as Millwall boss midway through last season, a poor one for the Lions which ended up with their relegation from the Championship.

They begin the season away to Shrewsbury, who were promoted from League Two in 2014/15, and he feels his old side will be on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline.

He does however expect new signing Steve Morison to get off the mark on his debut.

He said: "Steve Morison is a great signing for Millwall; he lives and breathes the club and he helped them stay up the year before. They'll need his experience but I know Micky Mellon well and I think his Shrewsbury side - promoted last season, great home record - will make it really difficult.

"I'm going for Shrewsbury - with Morison to get himself on the scoresheet at least."

Morison began the week as a Leeds United player, even scoring for the Whites in pre-season a fortnight ago, and he is now returning for his third spell at Millwall.

He was prolific for the Lions when he played for them in League One previously, helping them earn promotion, but an opening day loss will be exactly what Neil Harris' side do not need.
