The club’s manager Tim Sherwood has been proactive in the transfer market, as he’s looked to soften the blow of Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph leaving earlier in the summer.
Gestede has suggested that he doesn’t think the new players gelling with the rest of the squad will be a problem, backing his fellow French speakers to have a quick impact on the side.
“I’ve seen all the French players signing for the club and think it’s good. I think they’re going to bring something different,” he told AVTV.
“They were top players in the French league so I’m sure they are going to fit well in the team and bring something to help us do well in the league.”
The big plus for Villa
As Gestede suggests, the options that have come in are different and pose different challenges for the club’s opposition over the first few weeks of the season.
Any player coming into a league for the first time has an arguable chance of success because of the fact they are a relatively unknown commodity.
For example, someone like Jordan Ayew may be more effective over the first couple of months of the season, as clubs work out different ways to play against him and contain him.
In terms of the gelling aspect of the new players coming in, it’s something that Sherwood wouldn’t allow to become a problem.
He’s a very positive manager with a positive mind-set and someone who will want the club to start moving in the right direction quickly after the struggles of last season.
