Former England midfielder Danny Murphy has explained that he's worried about West Ham United in a specific area

Former England midfielder Danny Murphy told talkSPORT that his worry with regards to West Ham is the club’s lack of attacking options.

Enner Valencia misses the start of the season with a knee problem and while Andy Carroll offers a very obvious threat, he himself is also coming back from a long term problem.

With the Hammers having already played a high number of competitive games already due to the Europa League qualifiers, it’s looking like a very long season which is going to test out the club’s squad depth to the limit.

“The worry for me with West Ham at the moment, with Valencia not fit and Carroll not quite there is that it leaves them with Sakho – If he was to get a knock or get suspended, they need to go out there and sign someone else,” he told talkSPORT.

Time left to make changes

Although the Premier League season starts this weekend, with West Ham facing a very difficult game against Arsenal, there is still plenty of time left for the club to improve in the transfer window.

Slaven Bilic has already made some very good and exciting signings in the transfer window and he seems to have a good eye for a player who fits into his philosophy, as well as offering something which fits in line with the ideals of the football club.

West Ham do have players who can play out of position short term and do roles at the top of the club’s attack, but it’s not sustainable and at some point over the next few weeks, the club will need to sign some extra striker support.
