Cardiff City season predictions: Another mid-table finish beckons

Last season was a miserable one for Cardiff City but a bright pre-season has raised expectations slightly.

The 2014-15 campaign was one to forget for Cardiff City fans but there's some cautious optimism after a solid summer that has seen the Bluebirds hold their own against Premier League opposition.

After a summer clear-out, Russell Slade will be hoping that the men who remain will get off to a bright start to avoid pressure mounting on his job.

Prediction: 18th.

Freddie Shires: Cardiff have plenty of options up top but whether the defence can hold up is another matter.

Damien Lucas: I can see Russell Slade losing his job this season under the volatile Vincent Tan as the Bluebirds flirt with relegation but just about do enough to stay in the division.

Mathew Nash: Should improve on last term. Promotion unlikely but they will be there or thereabouts.

Che Thomas: Russell Slade has some quality to work with already in the Bluebirds squad, but I don’t see them improving on last season’s finish, and another mid-table finish beckons.

Stephen Pickering: Russell Slade has weakened Cardiff over his tenure and next season could be a difficult one for the Welsh side. The Bluebirds should have enough ability for survival, but only just. Key player: Bruno Manga.

Tim Poole: Cardifff underwhelmed last season and I see more of the same next time around.

Billy Hawkins: A weak squad further destroyed this summer will see Cardiff drop to League One.

Our writers were asked to predict the outcome of next season's Championship campaign. We accumulated their rankings (24 points for first place, 1 for 24th, etc), and created a predicted 2015-16 league table.
