Bristol City season predictions: Should be able to stay in the Championship without too many hiccups

Bristol City

Bristol City have returned to the Championship and they must now consolidate their status, but how do our writers think they will get on?

Bristol City look a force to be reckoned with under Steve Cotterill after sweeping aside the opposition in League One.

The Ashton Gate outfit will be confident they can escape the drop and possibly even push on for the top half of the table, hoping their momentum carries them on.

Prediction: 13th.

Freddie Shires: Steve Cotterill looks set to work with a very small squad but there’s enough talent at Ashton Gate for them to avoid dropping straight back down.

Damien Lucas: Bristol City just do enough to survive after starting the season at 8-1 to drop down to League One.

Mathew Nash: One team that comes up from the third tier often does well in the second, this year it will be Bristol City. Promotion however, like Brentford last season, will be a step too far.

Che Thomas: There has been a trend in recent seasons of promoted clubs doing well in the Championship, and such was the Bristol City's form last season, I can see them snatching that last playoff spot. Steve Cotterill could do with adding to the squad a little though, as it looks a little thin compared to other teams in the division.

Stephen Pickering: The Robins took to the transfer market slowly this summer and it could be something they come to regret. The momentum they had following promotion may see them have a strong start and keep them safe in their first season back. Key player: Luke Freeman

Tim Poole: So impressive in League One last term that City should be able to stay in the Championship without too many hiccups.

Billy Hawkins: Impressing after promotion, and will never truly be under the threat of relegation.

Our writers were asked to predict the outcome of next season's Championship campaign. We accumulated their rankings (24 points for first place, 1 for 24th, etc), and created a predicted 2015-16 league table.
