West Ham United media round-up: One player to arrive, one to leave

West Ham Upton Park

A selection of the latest news concerning West Ham United.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Hammers are rivalling Everton for Genoa defender Sebastian De Maio.

The 28-year-old was an integral part of the Serie A side last season, but the Hammers are ready to raid Italy once again for another defender, following the deal to bring in Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus.

A natural centre-back, he would provide added competition for an already well stocked position.

One player who could be leaving the Boleyn Ground is Kevin Nolan, as per the Guardian-Series.

The ageing midfielder does not look to have a role to play under Slaven Bilic this season, and former club Bolton want to sign him, although the Championship club would struggle to match his high wage demands.

However, so as to get him off their books, West Ham may consider paying a portion of Nolan’s wages to allow him to leave.

The Hammers were offered a former Premier League striker earlier this summer, according to Deporte El Valenciano.

Alvaro Negredo could have been lining up for the East London club this season, but the Hammers instead looked towards Raul Jimenez, who will move to the Boleyn Ground if permitted a work permit.
