Sunderland are pushing to sign Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj, report the Sunderland Echo.
The move for the Belgian international could have a knock-on effect for Leeds United, as it would push reported transfer target Will Buckley closer to the exit door.
The Black Cats are in talks with Manchester United over a season long loan for Januzaj, just a fortnight after he scored in a pre-season victory over Barcelona.
The Echo reported days ago that Sunderland are looking to ship out Will Buckley, with Leeds United interested in a permanent deal.
Januzaj's arrival would underline to Buckley that he does not have a future at Sunderland, if this was not clear already after making just one substitute appearance in pre-season.
Leeds signed Stuart Dallas from Brentford earlier this week, but still have the capacity to add another winger to the squad, helped by a cash windfall from a sell-on clause from Max Gradel's move from Saint Etienne to Bournemouth.
Chief executive Adam Pearson told the Yorkshire Evening Post they are exploring bringing in another wide player or central midfielder.
If Sunderland pull off a deal for Januzaj or not, Buckley remains a potential signing, but the Belgian's arrival would certainly help speed it along.
