Speaking in a press conference prior to West Ham’s Europa League game with Astra Giurgiu, Slaven Bilic has hinted at Manuel Lanzini making his Hammers debut against the Romanian side.
SB: "We have come here with a good team that I have a strong belief in, but it is difficult to play here, then fly back for Arsenal."— West Ham United FC (@whufc_official) August 5, 2015
SB: "There are senior players in every line on the pitch. Lanzini is one of them and he showed on Sunday he was lively."— West Ham United FC (@whufc_official) August 5, 2015
Lanzini arrived on loan from Al Jazira club earlier this summer, and appeared in the pre-season friendly with Werder Bremen at the weekend.
He impressed in the game, and his brand of stylish creative play will improve the Hammers attacking play this term.
Creating chances has been an issue for the club in recent years, and alongside Dimitri Payet - a fellow new signing - Lanzini should be the main attacking outlet.
He has traveled with the squad to Romania this week to take on Astra, and is one of few senior players selected as Slaven Bilic prepares for the start of the Premier League this weekend.
Carl Jenkinson, Kevin Nolan and Darren Randolph were also selected, and it is likely all four players will start as the Hammers look to claim a victory in Romania after falling to a 2-2 draw at the Boleyn Ground last week.
Experience and talent will be needed to claim a win, and Lanzini may be the player to show off his impressive skills on the way to securing victory for his new side.
