The former Newcastle United defender has managed to get under the skin of arguably the greatest player in the world.

To some, he is the best player in the world. On Wednesday night, however, he lost his rag.
Indeed, former Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa... sorry, Lionel Messi, that is, put his reputation as Barcelona's greatest player to one side and simply lost his cool during a friendly win over Roma.
Ex-Newcastle defender Yanga-Mbiwa was the target of Messi's rage, as the Argentine confronted him and, as can be seen below, physically strangled the 26-year-old.

Yanga-Mbiwa made himself into a bit of a cult hero on Tyneside, at first drawing plenty of criticism from Newcastle fans as performance after performance saw him contribute to a very leaky defence indeed. But the French centre-back was later loaned out to Roma and supporters found themselves asking whether the Magpies should really have let him go.
He was played out of position for the most part at St James' Park anyway. But whatever he did at Newcastle probably wasn't as annoying to Mr Messi as during the Roma - Barcelona friendly!
Yanga-Mbiwa must be a man of some skill to get the usually calm magician so wound up...
