Newcastle United have done well in terms of new players so far this summer, signing one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe in the former of Aleksandar Mitrovic, along with his former Anderlecht teammate Chancel Mbemba and attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
The former PSV Eindhoven player has impressed the most in pre-season, proving he will be a regular goal-scoring threat for the Magpies, while Mbemba’s late arrival means he is likely to take time to settle.
There could yet be more new arrivals at St James’ Park but for now Steve McClaren will be working with what he already has with the Premier League campaign just days away.
Newcastle’s first match of the season is against Southampton on Sunday and McClaren will want to get off to the best possible start. But what exactly is the Magpies’ strongest starting XI when everyone is fit and available.
