Manchester United transfer news: Sunderland in Januzaj loan talks; extra £3m for Di Maria; Pedro latest

Old Trafford

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Telegraph, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal hopes the promise of a place in a new-look front-three with Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay will convince Pedro to join them from Barcelona.

The 28-year-old has reportedly told friends he is keen on a move to Old Trafford and having been more a back-up than a superstar at the Nou Camp Pedro may see the chance to step into the spotlight for himself as reason enough to move on.

Pedro averages nearly a goal every three matches and there is little doubt he would be a success at United if he joined.

In other news, the Sunderland Echo claims the Black Cats are in talks with United over a possible loan deal for Adnan Januzaj.

Sunderland would pull off a major coup if they sign the young Belgium international for the season, but it remains to be seen what the short-term future holds for the attacker, especially if Pedro does arrive to add extra competition for places.

And finally, the Mirror claims van Gaal forced Paris Saint-Germain to pay an extra £3million for Angel Di Maria after the Argentine international was snapped with the club’s owner when he did not have permission to be there.

United are now said to have received £46million rather than the initial £43million agreed between the two parties.
