Manchester United transfer news: Di Maria happy to move on; Sam Johnstone's future unclear

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Manchester United’s young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone wants to leave Old Trafford this summer if he is not going to play regularly but the club are unwilling to sanction a loan move until they have finalised their squad for next season.

David de Gea, Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard could all leave the club and that would leave only new signing Sergio Romero and Johnstone as realistic options.

In truth United are unlikely to allow so many players in one position to leave without ready-made replacements lined up, but the report claims Johnstone was unhappy that his parent-club did not send a representative to keep track of him during his previous loan spell to Preston North End last season.

In other news, Sky Sports reports that Angel Di Maria is delighted to swap United for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine international only arrived in England last summer from Real Madrid, but he has now moved on to Ligue 1 after failing to settle in the Premier League.

Speaking after his move, the winger said, “I am very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain. They’re very important.”
