If West Brom moved for Dennis Praet they could be signing a future Baggies legend

West Brom The Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a player who would light up The Hawthorns for years to come.

According to a recent report from Belgian website Carrement Steph, West Bromwich Albion have bid £7.7million for Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet.

Shortly afterwards, HLN claimed the Belgian club wanted closer to £10.4million for the 21-year-old, with the Baggies said to be reluctant to go to such a price.

But if a compromise can be met, West Brom manager Tony Pulis would be bringing an extremely talented player to The Hawthorns, and one who could go on to become a legend at the club.

At this stage there are no guarantees, of course, with Praet playing his entire career to date in his homeland; but if he did arrive and settle in England there is little doubt he would excel.

Praet is one of the jewels in Anderlecht’s crown, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder who already has 133 senior appearances for the club under his belt.

He has scored 21 goals and provided 30 assists to date and he has represented his country at every level from under-16 to the senior side while he has also played 17 times to date in the Champions League.

With two years remaining on his current contract, this is the last summer Anderlecht will know they can get a decent fee for him unless he agrees a new deal, meaning they were always going to put a hefty price-tag on his head.

But when you consider West Brom spent £10million on Brown Ideye, a similar fee for Praet would see them sign a player who looks destined for the top of the game, so why not at the Baggies?
