The Eagles manager is hopeful his club will manage to sign their target on Wednesday.
Crystal Palace may well be about to unveil another new arrival at Selhurst Park today, according to Eagles manager Alan Pardew, who was speaking to Sky Sports this morning at the Premier League launch in Clapham.
The former Newcastle United boss only completed a big money deal for Connor Wickham a couple of days ago, but already it looks like he has another signing in the bag, with the speculation about who it could be certain to swell until more information is released.
“I’d like to think we’d get one done today," Pardew teased to Sky Sports. "I know you’ve been pushing me on it but I’m not going to give you a name because I never do until they are completely done. If we can get him over the line he’s an exciting player as well. I’ll be looking forward to seeing him.
“We’ve got a bit more business to do. We might have to bring one more in but we’re pretty close. I’d run through the season with the group we’ve got now. We’re a fuller group with strength in every position. We’re well set.”
Many would argue that Crystal Palace have already made some of the best signings of the summer ahead of the new season. Depending on whether Pardew can unveil another player to excite supporters, it may mean that the Londoners move even further out in front of other clubs' transfer business.
The arrival of France international Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain is the standout arrival, with the midfielder oozing class and creativity and a proven Premier League star under Pardew at Newcastle, while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is on the England's best young goalkeepers. Up front, the Eagles have also brought in two of the country's best attacking prospects, signing Connor Wickham from Sunderland and Patrick Bamford from Chelsea on loan.
