Villa’s assistant manager also praised the contribution of Tim Sherwood this transfer window.
Aston Villa’s number two Ray Wilkins has spoken in glowing terms about the club’s new signings this summer. Speaking to the club’s official website, Wilkins said: "I can assure you the ones we've brought in are extremely talented footballers.
"We've worked very hard on the intensity at which we train and which we will play and the lads have really bought into it… They've trained exceptionally well and we're thrilled with the way pre-season has gone.”
The former Chelsea and Milan midfielder also lauded Tim Sherwood for the insight he brings to the recruitment process, adding: “Tim's got great knowledge… Working with the academy system at Tottenham, he has a global knowledge of the players out there in Europe.”
Villa have dipped heavily into the French market this summer and secured four hot prospects in Jordan Amavi, Jordan Ayew, Jordan Veretout and Idrissa Gueye.
Whilst highly thought of in France, there remains doubts over how quickly they can adapt to Premier League football and how well all nine summer arrivals will gel, with the new season opener just four days away.
Sherwood appears to have used the funds from those sales wisely, however, and Wilkins’ latest comments will be encouraging for the Claret and Blue Army.
