We must keep our feet on the ground, says Leeds United manager Uwe Rosler

The Whites boss calls for level heads after his side's latest pre-season triumph.

Uwe Rosler has stressed to the Yorkshire Evening Post the importance of managing expectations at Elland Road after what has been a positive build-up to the new campaign.

The club’s final pre-season fixture saw them register an impressive 2-0 victory over Everton at Elland Road on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Alex Mowatt and summer signing Chris Wood, and the feel-good factor is slowly turning up a notch.

Rosler has, however, looked to temper the growing ambition around the club ahead of their Championship opener with Burnley.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he said: “It’s important now that we manage expectations.

“We can’t lose feet off the ground when we win against Everton, just as we can’t be too influenced when we’re not winning against teams who were eighth and ninth in the Bundesliga.”

Adding: "We’ve improved but there will be times when the improvement is challenged. Then we have to come through on a positive note.”

Rosler’s words of caution seem more obligatory than heartfelt as the team’s rapid progression since his arrival in May becomes clear to see.

Chris Wood could prove to be one of the signings of the summer and with Brentford winger Stuart Dallas joining today - as announced on the club’s official website - the Leeds squad looks to be in great shape.

A promotion push is within reach and Saturday's game against newly relegated Burnley will provide an early insight as to where the Whites stand among the Championship's big-hitters.
