Tottenham will have no-one but themselves to blame if they miss out on Saido Berahino

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur target Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have three recognised strikers in their squad at the moment, but only one of them is of any good.

While Emmanuel Adebayor is past his prime, Roberto Soldado has been a huge failure in the Premier League, which means that Spurs can rely on only Harry Kane to score goals this season as things stand at the moment.

Understandably, the North London outfit need at least one more striker, with Saido Berahino reported to be on their radar.

According to The London Evening Standard, Spurs are interested in the England Under-21 international striker, who is allegedly valued at £20 million by his club West Bromwich Albion.

While £20m for someone as young as Berahino is a lot of money, the fact is that he is talented and will make a good strike-partnership with Kane.

However, Manchester City are now allegedly interested in signing the 21-year-old Englishman.

The Sunday People reported at the weekend that the Citizens are looking to recruit the youngster, although on Monday The Daily Mail claimed that the Premier League giants are not pursuing a deal for him.

While many observers will suggest that City do not need another striker, if they do eventually sign Berahino this summer, then Spurs will have no-one but themselves to blame.

With just days left for the new Premier League season to start, Tottenham have not strengthened a key area.

If Kane struggles to score or gets injured in the opening weeks, then Spurs will be in huge trouble.

City are a more attractive and lucrative club than Spurs; not only are they in the Champions League, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side will also be competing for the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham have left it too late to sign Berahino; they should have wrapped up this signing weeks ago.
