Tottenham Hotspur media round-up: Pochettino confident over Kane loyalty

A round up of news stories this morning related to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Express has quoted Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino as suggesting Harry Kane doesn’t need to leave the club to win trophies.

The young forward was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer according to the paper.

However, Pochettino has reiterated Kane’s commitment to the club ahead of a very important Premier League campaign.

“He is a big supporter of the club. He is very happy and we are very happy he is with us,” he said.

Pochettino has also been quoted by suggesting that it’s important the club looks to benefit from Kane’s mentality.

He’s stressed that it’s important for Tottenham to try and keep a similar group of players together in order for the side to progress over the next few years.

Kane’s main challenge this season will be finding a way to improve on the standards he set for himself during his first season at the club.

“We need to keep this mentality. We try to build a very strong group for the next few years to try and achieve important things,” he said.

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has been quoted by the Daily Mail suggesting he feels the club can get the better of Real Madrid.

The two sides lock horns in a friendly game later, which will test where Tottenham are in terms of their preparation for the new season.

It will provide the opportunity for the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric to line up against their old club.

“They can score from anything so we'll have to be at our best to get a result against them, but I think we're capable of winning,” said the Belgian.
