Report: West Bromwich Albion unwilling to match asking price for Dennis Praet

West Brom

West Brom want to sign Praet, along with Aston Villa, Everton and Southampton.

The Baggies made an approach for Praet yesterday, and a report in HLN has outlined the ongoing proceedings concerning a move for the midfielder.

Anderlecht want at least £11 million for him, but it is believed that West Brom will ‘never pay so much money for a young player’ like Praet.

The bid made yesterday was said to have been worth roughly £7m - as per the report - and although the asking price is only slightly higher, there are worries about Praet due to having never played in England before.

Many suspect he is not worth that amount, although with two years left on his contract, and an incredible record in Belgian football, Anderlecht can set whatever asking price they want - with no fear of the midfielder leaving for free.

Praet, 21, has already played over 100 games for Anderlecht, and has Champions League experience and Belgium international caps, and looks to be one of the best potential players in European football.

West Brom would be completing a coup if they could agree a deal with Praet, especially as the report states interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Everton and Southampton.

He is a player who would vastly improve the Baggies first-team squad, and at just 21, he has years ahead of him to become a stalwart of the team. £11 million seems like an acceptable fee for a player of his quality, and the club should have no issues raising their initial offer to match the asking price set by Anderlecht.
