Liverpool’s Joe Gomez has made quite a start at the club.

The Reds signed Gomez, 18, from Charlton Athletic and initially planned to use the put the youngster in the development squad ahead of the U21 Premier League campaign.

However, after making a superb impression in the club’s pre-season camp many have started to believe he could be ready for a regular first-team spot as early as this season.

As such, according to The Sun, the Merseysiders could soon take action in regards to their numbers at left-back with last summer’s signing Alberto Moreno pinpointed as a possible sale.

“Joe Gomez is winning the battle to fill Liverpool’s problem left-back slot. And that could see the Reds listen to offers for Alberto Moreno, just 12 months after they paid £12million for him,” The Sun claims.

Should Liverpool cash in on Alberto Moreno?

The former Sevilla ace had a tough debut campaign on Merseyside, influenced by the large number of players joining for the club and the ensuing on-field problems which occurred.

Still, at 23, the marauding left-back has bags of potential and Moreno’s ability to play further up field makes him a valuable member of the squad.

Brendan Rodgers’ side currently have a surplus of fullbacks yet one player who is expected to feature sparsely this season is fellow Spaniard Jose Enrique, prompting the question as to whether the club would be acting wiser if they looked to move him on rather than his younger compatriot.
